Westport Dreams!!

Westport, Connecticut has its roots in the Native Americans who frequented this area years ago.  The first colonial settlers came from the surrounding towns of Norwalk, Fairfield and Weston. 

The first church built in Westport was the Green's Farms Congregational Church in 1711.  In the 1830's, Daniel Nash, together with other villagers applied to the Connecticut General Assembly to incorporate the Town of Westport in 1835.  Permission was granted.

Westport was established in 1835.  It covers 22.4 square miles and has a population of approximately 26,690 residents.

Theater people, artists and famous writers set the pace to find a quiet retreat from the hustle and bustle of Manhattan.  They found the seacoast and green woods, only an hour from New York City was their escape.  With the convenience of the railroad, the relaxed lifestyle grew with its appealing combination of seashore and country charm.  The creative arts community influences the the town's sophisticated cosmopolitan atmosphere.

Today, Westport is a modern day waterfront community, located on Long Island Sound and the Saugatuck River.  Westport has beautiful beaches and marinas.

The residents  of Westport enjoy swimming, boating and fishing along it's waterfront.  All residents of Westport can join the Longshore Country Club, with it's golf course, swimming pools, tennis courts, sailing and outdoor skating rink.

There are numerous parks and recreational activities.  Westport's downtown area is known for it's first class shopping, entertainment and dining.
